המילה סולחה בעברית מקורה בערבית - צֻלְחָה. בארמית, השורש צל"ח, הוראתו שבירה או חצייה
(כמו בעברית ייצלח את הכינרת, למשל) ולא סליחה. סולחה היא מילה בלשון הדיבור. אולי כדאי להמירה במילה "שׂוֹלֶם " (בניקוד נכון –שׂלֶם), שאף היא בלשון הדיבור, בלשון הדיבור של הילדים.

 Sulcha is the Arabic word, used also in the Hebrew language, for a peacemaking process in the community that is used for restoring harmony after serious wrongdoing has occurred. Mediation (gishur in Hebrew) is the English word used to describe a method of resolving conflict based on understanding the needs and perceptions of the disputing parties and achieving a mutually agreed upon solution. The sulcha website was founded in 2001 by Silpar (Israel) Ltd. and Olive Interactive Ltd. to serve as neutral and objective source of information about the mediation scene - the gateway to Israeli mediation. The website contains information about mediation, within Israel and, to some extent, around the world. Sulcha has ties to mediate.com in the United States (headed by Jim Melamed) and regularly presents the mediate.com newsletter, with its variety of articles in English. Sulcha has ties to other mediation resources abroad as well and presents information about important events in the mediation field around the world. Through the sulcha site, it will soon be possible to connect to the websites of all mediation centers in Israel and abroad. The website opens with daily updates of current news relating to mediation developments, primarily in Israel. The website hosts three forums for mediators and the general public: the family forum, for disputes among family members (usually divorce situations), a forum of experts for the mediation of a variety of disputes, and the business forum which focuses on commercial disputes in the business world. Other sections of the site include a list of mediators from around the country, a list of mediation centers in the private sector, articles touching on various aspects of mediation (some in English, most in Hebrew), announcements about relevant conferences in Israel and abroad, advertised training courses in mediation, information about legal and other aspects of mediation, a bulletin board for those wishing to make professional contact with others, and results of internet surveys about issues in mediation. The sulcha news presents the ongoing activities of the National Center for Mediation and Dispute Resolution of the Ministry of Justice, of the Courts Administration and of the Israeli Mediators Organization. In addition, it is possible to access the websites for these organizations through direct links on the sulcha site. Sulcha invites English-speakers to use the forums (questions in English will be answered in English) and to make email contact with the website staff in English with any questions or requests.
